WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Congressman James E. Clyburn (SC-06) released the following statement on the passing of Congressman Raúl Grijalva of Arizona’s 7th Congressional District:
“I’m saddened to learn of the passing of my colleague — Congressman Raúl Grijalva. Grijalva proudly served his constituents in southern Arizona and was a champion for preserving our natural resources, fighting for bilingual education in our schools, and safeguarding our nation’s natural treasures for over two decades. He cared about protecting this nation’s stories, memories, and legacy through conservation and natural heritage.
“As Chair and Ranking Member of the House Natural Resources Committee throughout his time in Congress, his voice, vision, and passion for public lands and climate action will be deeply missed.
“My prayers are with his family and loved ones.”
