CONGRESSMAN CLYBURN ANNOUNCES MORE THAN $15 MILLION FOR CONSTRUCTION AND CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS OF SOUTH CAROLINA COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTERS

COLUMBIA – Today, Congressman James E. Clyburn announced that the Department of Health and Human Services has awarded more than $15 million to 21 community health centers in South Carolina. These Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) awards will be used to fund capital improvements and construction costs for facilities in communities disproportionally affected by COVID-19.  These funds, made available through the American Rescue Plan legislation passed by Democrats and signed by President Biden in March, will be crucial to improving South Carolina’s healthcare infrastructure and will help ensure that all South Carolinians have access to state-of-the-art medical facilities.

“These resources championed by President Biden and Congressional Democrats are an investment in making health care more accessible and affordable for all,” said Congressman James E. Clyburn. “Throughout the pandemic these facilities have been lifelines to many communities across the state by providing patients with free and low-cost access to testing, vaccines and treatment. As we begin to emerge from the devastation of this virus, these funds will ensure that individuals in rural and underrepresented communities have access to high quality healthcare in expanded and modernized health centers.”
