Columbia, S.C. – South Carolina Congressman James E. Clyburn announced today an almost $9 million grant awarded to Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College from the Economic Development Administration.
This award’s initial investment amounts to $1.9 million with the total project award totaling over $8.8 million. This investment supports construction of a new workforce training facility for health sciences and nursing programs on the campus of Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College. When completed, the facility will provide accessible skills training programs that will enable individuals to acquire competitive training and employment opportunities in the health care industries. This project is also projected to create over 300 jobs.
“I am thrilled for Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College and the surrounding community on the announcement of the grant awarded to develop a new workforce training facility,” Congressman Clyburn said. “I believe the health science sector is imperative to our community and this new facility will help train individuals and assist in obtaining relevant job opportunities. I am excited to see how this project grows the Orangeburg workforce community.”
