CONGRESSMAN CLYBURN ANNOUNCES 7,200 MANUFACTURING JOBS CREATED IN SOUTH CAROLINA IN 2021

COLUMBIA – Today, Congressman James E. Clyburn announced that in 2021, South Carolina created 7,200 manufacturing jobs.  As Co-Chair of the House Democratic Manufacturing Working Group, Congressman Clyburn is a leading advocate for America’s manufacturing sector.

By enacting the American Rescue Plan and the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, Democrats have demonstrated a commitment to ensuring good-paying jobs are created and remain in America.  Building on this progress, recent House passage of the America COMPETES Act is an important step toward the enactment of legislation that will further strengthen the American economy and ease supply chain backlogs by lessening our reliance on foreign-made goods and making more products on American soil.

Since President Biden took office, the U.S. has created 375,000 manufacturing jobs and a total of 6.6 million jobs nationwide.

“These job numbers coupled with all-time low unemployment are clear indicators that the Biden-Harris Administration’s economic plan is working,” said Congressman Clyburn. “After just one year in office, our economy has seen tremendous growth.  Enacting key provisions of the House-passed America COMPETES Act into law will ensure even more South Carolinians have access to high-quality, good-paying jobs.”
