Congressman Clyburn Announces $6.6 Million Affordable Care Act Grant in South Carolina

(Columbia, SC) – House Assistant Democratic Leader and South Carolina Congressman James E. Clyburn announced today that the Children’s Trust Fund of South Carolina will be receiving a $6,680,778 Affordable Care Act grant for maternal, infant and early childhood home visiting programs.

This grant and many others are being offered by the Department of Health and Human Services.  They will be granting $11 billion over a 5-year period for the operation, expansion and construction of health centers nationwide through the Community Health Center Fund.

“Despite the Governor's refusal to accept $11.7 billion of new revenue by expanding Medicaid and leaving more than 200,000 South Carolina citizens without health care coverage, I am happy to see local businesses being offered Affordable Care Act (ACA) grants to improve access to health care for local communities,” Congressman Clyburn said.  “This is not the first ACA grant that South Carolina has been offered and it won’t be the last.  I look forward to continued support of our communities' healthcare needs from organizations like the Children’s Trust Fund.”
