(Florence, SC) – Sixth District Congressman James E. Clyburn will sponsor a United States Service Academy Orientation on Saturday, April 27 in Florence to offer interested high school students, their parents, school guidance counselors, and ROTC Departments an opportunity to learn more about life at the academies. Our nation's Service Academies offer students unique education challenges and career opportunities free of charge.
This Pee Dee orientation will be held at Florence Darlington Technical College in the auditorium from 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. The orientation will cover details of the congressional nomination process, the academy application process and requirements, as well as explain each institution's academic program and career opportunities. Representatives of the United States Air Force, Coast Guard, Merchant Marine, Military and Naval Academies will make presentations and talk personally with those in attendance. Two previous orientations in Charleston and Columbia proved to be very informative for the participants.
