COLUMBIA, SC – Today, Congressman James E. Clyburn announced that Lowcountry Local First’s Good Growth initiative will receive $789,724 from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration (EDA). This funding will help Lowcountry Local First expand its work to provide small and minority businesses training, financial literacy, and coworking and peer networking opportunities.
“The Covid-19 pandemic brought to light and exacerbated many of the inequities that small and minority businesses have been dealing with for years,” said Congressman James E. Clyburn. “This funding will ensure that Lowcountry Local First has the necessary resources to address these issues and build on their work to bridge the entrepreneurship support gap in underserved communities.”
Funding for this project was made available through the American Rescue Plan Act, which allocated $3 billion to EDA to assist communities nationwide in their recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic. More information on EDA’s grant process and investment process can be found at www.eda.gov.
