Congressman Clyburn Requests FY24 Funding for South Carolina Community Projects

On March 6, 2024, the House passed the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2024. This legislations includes $233,264,279 to fund community projects in the Sixth Congressional District of South Carolina, as well as additional funding for key priorities and other legislative items. The community project funding allocations were requested by local entities to address community needs. The bill now heads to the Senate for final passage.

In addition to securing funding for these community projects, additional priorities were included in the spending package impacting South Carolina:

  • Community Health Centers will receive the largest increase in mandatory funding in a decade at a rate of $4.4 billion through the end of the year;
  • Funds the Southeast Regional Crescent Commission at $20 million, equal to the Fiscal Year 2023 level;
  • Fully funds WIC, SNAP and child nutrition programs;
  • Increases funding for rental assistance through the Housing Choice Voucher program;
  • Includes $188,666,000 for the Historic Preservation Fund; and
  • Includes $10 million for workforce development and training partnerships at HBCUs in South Carolina, and Hispanic Serving Institutions and Tribal Colleges in New Mexico for plutonium pit production.
